Instagram Video Marketing for 2022: Maximize the Impact of Your Video Content
In recent years, Instagram has emerged as a powerful platform for businesses to showcase their products and services with the help of visual content. And in 2022, video is set to take center stage on Instagram. With its ability to convey a brand's message in a quick and engaging manner, video content is an effective way to capture people's attention and drive engagement. In this blog post, we'll explore some of the best practices for maximizing the impact of your Instagram video marketing efforts in 2022, and how you can develop a winning strategy to stand out from the crowd!
Video is here to stay whether you like it or not (I might be biased, but I like it). All the social media platforms are focused on video content creation and are rewarding people for following suit. It’s safe to say video is an essential asset for your marketing strategy, especially if you want to grow your online community.
On Instagram, you have a few options for video: Stories (quick video that disappears after 24 hours), Reels (ie. short videos that can be between 5 seconds to one minute long) and Video (long-form videos that are over one minute long).
If you’re new to Instagram or you don’t quite know what to do with the video content you have, don’t worry, I’ve got you! That’s what this blog post is all about. I put together a list of best practices to get you used to using video, optimizing the content you have and how you can start strategizing future Instagram video marketing for your business.
First 3-Seconds Matter
Don’t panic, you don’t have to do something super dramatic to get someone to watch your video. Video is the preferred creative because it’s more engaging and attention-grabbing than a static photo and can really expand on what you’re trying to say to your audience. To keep people engaged with your video content, keep it simple and quickly layout what your video is about at the beginning and then get right to the point. It’s not about going viral with a crazy hook, it’s about servicing and nurturing your audience with value-packed content.
Add Text or Subtitles
To make your content accessible don’t forget to add text or automatic subtitles to your videos (if there is talking in them!). This also allows people who are watching with the sound off to engage in your video. All of the video tools on Instagram have automated closed captioning that you can easily add to your videos or you can manually add your own text. Captioning your reels is just as essential as captioning your stories. 30% of people watch Instagram videos with the sound off (Source: Mediakix) - you don’t want to miss out on that audience!
Publish Your Reels on Your Feed
As a business or content creator on Instagram, you are likely always looking for ways to reach more of your target audience and increase engagement. One way to achieve this is by creating Reels, a popular feature that allows you to create short, engaging videos. However, it's important to keep in mind that simply publishing your Reel to the Reels feed might not be enough to get it in front of as many people as possible.
That's why it's crucial to click the "Share to Feed" button when creating a Reel. By doing so, you'll be able to share your Reel not only on the Reels feed but also on your own feed where your followers can see it. Remember that you can always remove the Reel from your feed later if you'd like to.
When you just publish to Reels, the chances of users seeing your video are limited to those who are specifically browsing the Reels feed or on the discover page. However, when you also share your Reel to your own feed, your followers will be able to see it as they scroll through their home page. This increases the likelihood of engagement and shares, leading to an even wider reach!
The more people your Reel is exposed to, especially your followers, the better the chances of success. So make sure to utilize the "Share to Feed" option to maximize the visibility of your Reels and engage with your followers in a fun and creative way.
Use Trending Audio
As part of your Instagram video marketing strategy, it's important to leverage the power of Reels to increase engagement and reach. One effective way to boost the visibility of your Reels is by pairing them with trending audio. Instagram makes this easy by providing a list of popular and trending audio during the editing process. By selecting an audio that fits the vibe and theme of your video, you can make your content more appealing and relevant to your audience.
Furthermore, choosing a trending audio can also help you capitalize on the latest trends and memes, which can drive more views and shares. To stay on top of the latest trends and maximize the impact of your Instagram video marketing efforts, it's important to understand your audience and keep a close eye on industry trends and news. By creating content that resonates with your target audience and reflects current trends, you can establish your brand as a thought leader and build a loyal following on Instagram. Use an Eye-Catching Cover Photo
When it comes to Instagram video marketing, the cover photo serves as your content's first impression. It's the first thing that users see when scrolling through their feeds, and if it doesn't stand out or appeal to them, they may simply keep scrolling. However, by creating a custom cover photo that is visually striking and on-brand, you can make your content more attractive to potential viewers!
In addition to catching the eye of users, the cover photo of your Reel or video can also help establish your brand identity on Instagram. By using consistent colors, fonts, and themes across all your content, you can create a recognizable and memorable brand image that users will associate with your account. This can help increase brand awareness and even attract new followers who are drawn to your unique aesthetic.
